Exciting times ahead for the local electronic and sound design communities with the big news that Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) will be departing their familiar North Melbourne abode for a new and improved site at The Atrium in Melbourne’s Federation Square.

Already home to one of the most eclectic and historically significant collections of electronic instruments in the world, the new MESS site will boast a more centralised locale, increased floorspace and enhanced studio functionality- with a host of new ways to explore the collection, work and connect.

Scheduled to open this Spring, the move to fed square is an exciting step for the MESS family and its members, given the organisation’s position as something of a cornerstone for the Melbourne Electronic community. It’s a sentiment shared in their official statement announcing the move:-

‘A lot will change, but we will strive to keep our feet on the ground and our sights focussed on access, inclusion and maximum impact. So much more than the sum of its machines – MESS is about the people we bring together to be elevated by the creative process.’
